Jason Duffaut, CFP®, CAP®, CPFA®, CExP®
Managing Member | Financial Planner
For Jason Duffaut, financial planning is about more than accumulating wealth. It is about helping people determine how they want their wealth to support their families, businesses, communities, and long-term goals.
Jason is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and Managing Member of Mission Financial Planners with approximately 25 years of experience in financial services. His career has included banking, lending, investments, insurance, retirement planning, business planning, tax-aware strategies, and estate planning. That experience helps him look beyond any single account or strategy and consider how the different parts of a financial life work together.
As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®), Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor (CPFA®), and Certified Exit Planner (CExP®), Jason brings several planning disciplines together. His credentials reflect areas that have become especially important throughout his career, including comprehensive planning, charitable giving, employer-sponsored retirement plans, tax mitigation strategies, and business transitions.
Helping Business Owners Plan Beyond the Business
Jason has a particular interest in working with founders, executives, and business owners. Building a successful company can create tremendous opportunity, but it can also mean that a significant portion of someone’s wealth, identity, and future becomes connected to a single business.
His work can include retirement-plan strategies, wealth management, risk management, business continuation planning, and preparation for an eventual sale or transition. Jason believes exit planning should begin well before an owner is ready to sell. Starting earlier can create more time to coordinate the business with personal financial goals, tax strategies, and plans for life after the business.
For Jason, the conversation goes beyond what a company is worth. He encourages owners to consider: What does life look like after the business? Who or what are you transitioning it to? How much income will you need? What do you want to preserve for your family? And what do you want the wealth you created to accomplish?
Planning With Purpose
That question connects naturally to another important part of Jason’s work: charitable and philanthropic planning.
As a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy®, Jason helps clients think intentionally about charitable giving and legacy. Generosity does not have to sit outside the financial plan. Charitable goals can be considered alongside family priorities, estate planning, tax considerations, investments, and the legacy someone hopes to leave.
That philosophy is also reflected in Jason’s educational series, The Philanthropist, where he explores charitable giving, legacy planning, and ways individuals and families can use their financial resources to make a meaningful impact.
For Jason, philanthropy is not simply about writing a check. It begins with understanding why you want to give, whom you want to help, and how that generosity fits into the larger story you want your wealth to tell.
A Commitment to Learning
Jason believes financial planning requires lifelong learning. Tax laws change. Retirement rules change. Markets change. Businesses evolve. And the strategies available to families and business owners continue to develop.
He remains committed to continuing education, professional study groups, and expanding his knowledge in areas that affect the clients he serves. He enjoys understanding how things work and sharing that knowledge with others.
Jason works with clients across Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Wisconsin, subject to applicable registration and regulatory requirements.
Outside the Office
Jason’s life outside financial planning reflects many of the same things he talks about with clients: experiences, relationships, curiosity, and making an impact.
He and his wife enjoy traveling, meeting new people, and hearing their stories. They are also dog lovers and have welcomed Dobermans from a local rescue organization into their family.
Jason is an enthusiastic reader and lifelong learner. Whether the subject is financial planning, business, personal development, or something unrelated to finance, there is a good chance he is reading about it and has a book recommendation ready if you ask.
Ultimately, Jason believes wealth is a tool, not the destination. The real question is what you choose to do with it. Whether that means creating financial independence for your family, transitioning a business, supporting causes you believe in, or leaving something meaningful for the next generation, Jason wants financial planning to help turn those intentions into action.
Build with purpose. Plan for transition. Create an impact that lasts.
